The U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution on Thursday to establish a framework for proceedings in the ongoing impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.
The resolution was approved by a 232 to 196, with representatives voting along party lines with the exception of two Democratic lawmakers, who voted against the measure. Former Republican representative Justin Amash, who left the party over its support of Trump and is now an Independent, voted with Democrats on Thursday.
Congressman David Price of North Carolina’s 4th District, which includes Orange County, released a statement following Thursday’s vote, saying the resolution reinforces the House’s commitment to transparency.
“It’s the House’s solemn responsibility to continue with this impeachment inquiry as new and unnerving evidence is revealed seemingly every day,” said Price. “It’s increasingly apparent that the President of the United States abused the power of the presidency for personal political gain by demanding that a foreign leader investigate his domestic political rival, and then moved to cover it up.”
The vote was the first time the full House took action to support or condemn the impeachment inquiry, despite lawmakers in both parties publicly stating their thoughts on the proceedings. The resolution approves the actions of five committees conducting investigations into whether there is evidence to hold impeachment proceedings. It also lays out how public hearings and proceedings in the House’s Judiciary Committee would work.
In his statement, Price also took aim at his Republican colleagues, saying their defense of Trump reflects the divisiveness between the two parties.
“Instead of defending the President on the substance and merits,” he said, “Republicans in Congress complain about the process and it’s clear why: The President’s actions are indefensible.”

There is another side to your story, one which democrats refuse to consider. Unfortunately, it is not covered by the main press since this is nothing more than political. You do know, that about 90% of reporters today are liberals. Where is factual reporting? I look at all sides of this issue and you should too. It is difficult today to consider all sides, but people in leadership positions should work hard at finding facts and not tossing around political talking points which is all you have done in your essay. I honestly don’t know how you sleep at night.
