North Carolina Representative David Price announced he will be self-quarantining as the spread of the novel coronavirus called COVID-19 continues.

Price, who represents North Carolina District 4 in the U.S. House of Representatives, shared his decision over Twitter on Thursday. He cited a colleague’s recent positive test for COVID-19 as a reasoning behind the decision, despite his physician’s determination Price was not at a high likelihood of exposure from any contact with the colleague. Price said the decision is a pre-cautionary measure since he is not exhibiting any symptoms and he will be working from home until Wednesday, March 25.

“The health and wellbeing of every American has to be our top priority,” said Price in a tweet. “At home, I’ll continue working remotely with my colleagues to propose a robust package that will help families and small businesses through this difficult time.”

In addition to extending quick recoveries to Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida and Rep. Ben McAdams of Utah, who both announced they have tested positive for the coronavirus, Price urged all of the nation to take similar actions to his own.

“I encourage all Americans to continue heeding the recommendations of public health officials and remain at home if possible,” he said. “These necessary steps will help blunt spread of this virus.”

Price represents all of Orange County and parts of Wake and Durham counties in the U.S. House.
