Two sections of Hillsborough’s Riverwalk boardwalk will close briefly on Tuesday to allow for the replacement of rotted wood and repainting.

According to the town, Tuesday morning the Public Works Department will replace rotted floorboards on Riverwalk near Calvin Street and on the covered walkway into Gold Park. Small sections of the greenway will be closed while the work is underway. Work is expected to be complete by noon.

Weather permitting, on Thursday, January 14 and Friday, January 15, a contractor for the town will repaint yellow curbs in the downtown area on Churton, King, Nash and Kollock streets.

The contractor is expected to work mostly behind the curb, and traffic interruptions are not expected. Motorists are asked to use caution around workers.

Hillsborough’s Riverwalk is a paved, accessible, urban greenway that stretches about 1.8 miles along the Eno River between Gold Park in western Hillsborough and trails east of town.
