Following an investigation into racially-charged social media posts made last week, a woman no longer works for the UNC Health system.
Georgia Gray was previously listed as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Chapel Hill’s UNC Medical Center. Social media posts made by an account belonging to someone of the same name recently used inciting language when referring to demonstrators in protests against racial injustice. According to a report by WRAL, the post referred to participants in the protests as “animals” and “the devil incarnated.”
Further language included “bring on the devil dogs,” “bring on the guns,” and references of “going to war on our own soil for the first time since the 1800s.”
UNC Health confirmed to Chapelboro on Monday Gray is no longer employed by the UNC Medical Center.
“Our HR team conducted an investigation in accordance with our policies for personnel matters,” said a spokesperson for the health system.
The health system shared a message to the community last Tuesday condemning “racially offensive language” following the post going viral.
A certified registered nurse anesthetist typically administers anesthesia for surgery or other various medical procedures.
