UNC Health shared a message on Tuesday saying an employee recently posted on social media and used racially offensive language.

The health care system shared two tweets to the community before 10 p.m. on Tuesday saying it’d been made aware of the post.

“UNC Health is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace and community,” said the statement. “We do not condone or accept such language or behavior at any time.”

The statement comes at a time when many organizations, groups and companies around the country and Orange County are sharing statements regarding racial injustice and police brutality following the death of George Floyd.

The message did not indicate which location employs the UNC Health worker in question. It also did not indicate whether the employee would be fired, but did say the system would “take appropriate corrective action.”
