Two workers for a North Carolina congressional campaign have resigned just days after the candidate was in court in a domestic-related dispute.

Joel Gillison and Alex Baltzegar released Tuesday letters announcing their resignation from Republican Steve Von Loor’s campaign. Von Loor is running to unseat veteran Democratic Rep. David Price in the Triangle-area 4th Congressional District. The aides — Gillison was the campaign manager — both cited recent events.

A judge last week refused to issue protective orders sought by Von Loor and his ex-wife’s current husband. Each man accused the other of harassment. The court hearing also referenced domestic abuse allegations the ex-wife formally made in 2010 against Von Loor, who denies them.

A phone message left at Von Loor’s campaign seeking comment from the candidate wasn’t returned Wednesday.
