The Town of Chapel Hill is asking for help from its residents to provide input on the town’s future projects.

Residents can assist the town by completing the first phase of Chapel Hill’s “Charting Our Future Project.” This two-phased, land use initiative is designed to chart the course of Chapel Hill’s growth and development to the year 2049.

During this first phase, residents are invited to comment on the town’s Future Land Use Map, or FLUM. A FLUM focuses on the town’s key gateways, corridors and activity nodes.

There will be a virtual public meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 13, to discuss this project.  The public is invited to attend the Zoom webinar directly online or by phone. You can register for this webinar here.

This phase will be completed by the summer of 2020 when the town council adopts the new FLUM as an amendment to Chapel Hill 2020.

The second phase of the project will rewrite the town’s Land Use Management Ordinance (LUMO), with the goal of improving the town’s land use tools and processes so that they are more “predictable, functional, and intentional.”
