A 21-year-old man died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a shooting that allegedly occurred at the Red Roof Inn near Durham-Chapel Hill Boulevard.

According to an initial release from the Chapel Hill Police Department, law enforcement officers responded to the shooting that morning at approximately 1:20 AM.

The release also revealed that one unnamed individual was injured in the shooting and transported to Duke University Hospital in Durham for unspecified care.

A subsequent release clarified that the hospitalized individual was Edward Young III, who died shortly afterward as a result of his injuries.

The Chapel Hill Police Department opened an investigation into the incident and is offering a reward of $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
