Orange County authorities captured a suspect Thursday evening in connection to several crimes in Hillsborough, Durham County and Wake County after an on-foot pursuit near Highway 86.
A release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said investigators and deputies arrested Eric David Rolon Feliciano, a 28-year-old from Durham, after he was chased by authorities from Durham County into Orange County.
According to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office, who shared their own release on Friday, patrol units spotted Rolon at Kerley and Cornwallis Roads on Thursday afternoon driving a vehicle reported stolen out of Wake County. Rolon then fled the area, losing the Durham County authorities as he drove into Orange County. Following the pursuit, Rolon was reportedly spotted by someone in a residential neighborhood in Orange County. The witness reported a man matching Rolon’s description abandoning the vehicle and running into nearby woods, leading Hillsborough police and sheriff’s deputies to set up a perimeter with K-9 units.
Rolon was later captured several miles north of where he was spotted, with Orange County Sheriff’s Office describing as “off of Highway 86 S near the intersection with 70A.”
Rolon faces multiple charges in Orange County related to commercial and residential breaking and entering cases, theft of multiple vehicles and several traffic violations while fleeing traffic stops within the last week. Additionally, charges from Durham and Wake counties are expected to be announced against him on Friday.
Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood shared his gratitude to Hillsborough’s police department for their coordination in the man hunt and foot pursuit on Thursday.
“Our ability to exchange information and work together so successfully is something I deeply value,” said Blackwood. “I also offer my sincere appreciation to the many residents and motorists who were inconvenienced this evening. Rolon repeatedly demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the safety and property of others; his criminal activities made our efforts tonight necessary.”
