A former teacher assistant at McDougle Middle School has been charged with assaulting a handicapped student.
Danielle Denisha Bradsher – 27, of Roxboro – was charged on Monday with a misdemeanor count of assault on a handicap person. Carrboro Police Captain Chris Atack said via email on Wednesday that the charge “did stem from an investigation of an assault against a student at McDougle Middle School.” The alleged assault occurred on April 22, according to Atack.
Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools spokesman Jeff Nash said in an email that the district was aware of the charge and that Bradsher had resigned from her position prior to being arrested. Bradsher began working with the district in 2015, Nash said, and resigned on April 25.
Bradsher’s job title was Exceptional Children Teacher Assistant, according to Nash.
Police records list the type of weapon used in the assault as “hands, feet, teeth.”
Court records show that Bradsher is schedule to appear in court later this month.
No other details were immediately available from either the district or police department regarding the alleged incident.
