Update: Hillsborough Police said Thursday that the suspects were arrested in Shelby, North Carolina by the U.S. Marshals Service, with assistance from the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office. They are held on warrants from Minden, Louisiana  for robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and defrauding an inn keeper.

The Hillsborough Police Department identified and issued warrants for three suspects in a case of armed robbery at a Waffle House restaurant earlier this week.

A release from the department Wednesday night named Tony Eugene Lemon, Tamiko Lashun Jones and Diamond Walton as the trio who used a handgun to threaten employees and take money from the cash register at 110 Daniel Boone Street. Police say all of the suspects, who are Texas residents, are charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

The Hillsborough Police release shared further details on Monday’s incident. According to investigators, the trio were part of a family of six who sat down for “a brief meal” in the afternoon. Afterward, Lemon displayed a handgun and demanded money from the Waffle House employees.

Wednesday’s updated release said Lemon then fled on foot to the Daniel Boone Shell Service Center at 381 South Churton Street, where he was parked. From there, the suspects left in two cars: a burgundy Ford F-150 and a silver sedan which investigators say could a newer-model Ford Fusion.

Police said witnesses at the restaurant reported hearing the suspects say they were traveling to Virginia. Investigators said both vehicle were later seen traveling northbound on Interstate 85, which has on-ramps close to Daniel Boone Street.

Hillsborough Police say Lemon, Jones and Walton have similar outstanding charges from “a few days prior” in Minden, Louisiana. The trio is believed to be armed and dangerous, according to Wednesday’s release.

Police are asking anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts, or the armed robbery, to contact Hillsborough Investigator Van St. Pierre.
