A Hillsborough man died early Thursday morning from a hit-and-run collision with a vehicle, according to authorities.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol shared a release on Friday reporting 28-year-old John Lewis Aldridge of Hillsborough died after suffering injuries from a collision on Wilkerson Road in northern Orange County. Trooper responded to the crash site around 6:35 a.m. on Thursday.
The release said the vehicle that struck Aldridge, who is reported to have been a pedestrian, was travelling south on the road. Currently, the suspect, as well as the vehicle’s make and model number, are unknown.
The State Highway Patrol is requesting anyone with information related to the hit-and-run incident to contact their Raleigh Communications Center by calling 336-334-5500. Friday’s release said information and any observations made by the public beginning Wednesday evening until early Thursday morning are relevant to their ongoing investigation.
