The victim of a Virginia child abduction has been found in Efland, according to law enforcement.

Officials with the US Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force said in a Tuesday afternoon release that 22-year-old Brittni Leonard was arrested in Durham on Tuesday in connection with a child abduction in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. Authorities say Leonard was accused of abducting her biological child and removing them from Virginia.

While Leonard was found and arrested in Durham, the child in question was not in her custody at the time. Additional information led law enforcement to the child, who was with their biological father in Efland.

The child’s legal guardian then reunited with the child after arriving from Virginia to take custody of the child.

Leonard has been charged with felony kidnapping (parental abduction), felony credit card theft and misdemeanor credit card fraud. She is being held under a $100,000 bond, while awaiting extradition to Virginia.
