A Siler City man faces several gun charges after a shooting into a Pittsboro residence last week, according to the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.
A release from the office on Thursday said deputies arrested 46-year-old Geoffrey Evans following an investigation into gunfire on Oct. 23 along Moore Mountain Road, which is just north of the Bynum community. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call reporting gunshots from a moving vehicle around 4:13 p.m., and found shell casings and a bullet hole upon arrival to a residence. According to Thursday’s alert, the resident of the home identified Evans as the suspect.
The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office arrested Evans on Tuesday, and he was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony shooting into an occupied dwelling, and misdemeanor injury to personal property. As of Thursday, he was held under a $100,000.00 secured bond and was scheduled to make his first court appearance on the charges that day.
No additional information is being made public at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
