Update: The Chapel Hill Police Department arrested two individuals Thursday evening following an investigation into gunfire at the 200 block of North Roberson Street Wednesday morning.
40-year-old Kenneth Antwaine Perry and 27-year-old Ebony Montrice Wade, both Chapel Hill residents, each face multiple charges. Perry is charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, assault by pointing a gun and discharging a firearm within city limits. Police say he is being held at the Orange County Detention Center without bond and is expected to make a first appearance in court tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Wade is charged with felony conspiracy and accessory after the fact. Police say she is being held at the detention center under a $250,000 secured bond. She is expected to appear in court tomorrow at 2 p.m.
The Chapel Hill Police Department is investigating reports of shots fired at the edge of the Northside neighborhood early Wednesday morning.
An alert from the town said officers responded to a call about gunfire in the 200 block of North Roberson Street around 6:45 a.m. Their initial investigation led to the belief someone fired the gunshots at two men before leaving the area. No one was injured, according to police.
Chapel Hill Police added that its investigators believe the suspect and victims know each other. The department is working to identify the suspect on Wednesday, and said any information shared by the public that leads to an arrest in the case could be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
