The Carrboro Police Department is investigating a burglary and shooting in an apartment complex from Thursday night.
A release from the agency on Friday said multiple suspects are at large following a burglary at Oakwood Apartments. A resident of the complex, which is located at 605 Oak Avenue, returned home around 10:15 p.m. to find the suspects had broken into their apartment and were still inside.
Carrboro Police said the resident and a friend then chased the suspects out of the apartment and through the Oakwood complex. During the chase, one of the suspects reportedly fired a single shot from an unknown type of weapon before the suspects escaped. According to Friday’s release, no injuries were reported from the incident, although the victim reported several items were taken from their residence.
The police department said anyone who may have additional information the burglary, chase and incidents later on Thursday night is encouraged to contact Investigator Trey Kennedy at 919-918-7412. Additionally, anonymous tips can be left at the Crime Stoppers phone line at 919-942-7515.
