A shooting in Burlington left one man dead and another injured, and police say they have no suspects as of yet.
The shooting happened just before 3:30 Wednesday morning following a dispute at the CV Mart on North Church Street. Police responded to reports of gunshots and arrived to see several cars fleeing the area.
A traffic stop of one of those cars revealed a passenger who had been shot. Twenty-four-year-old James T. Withers of Mebane was transferred to UNC Hospital where he’s currently listed in stable condition.
A second victim, twenty-six-year-old Willie Thompson, Jr., of Burlington, was dropped off at Alamance Regional Medical by an unknown driver. Thompson was pronounced dead upon arrival.
