Two people have been charged in connection to a shooting in Hillsborough earlier this week.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office provided an update to the community Friday night, saying deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force apprehended the two suspects.

Authorities charged Matthew Thomas Wetherington and Danielle Kara Warren, both of Durham, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury. The pair are being held under $100,000 secure bonds.

Wetherington and Warren’s arrests followed an investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office into a shooting reported on Carolantic Road in Hillsborough on Tuesday. A victim suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to authorities. Friday’s release said although the injuries were serious, the victim is now expected to recover.The sheriff’s office said the two suspects were found in Granville County on Friday. The pair could face more charges after investigators consult with the District Attorney.
