After months of preparation — and years of serving pizzas — The Village Diner branching out to create a new restaurant for its popular pies.
West Hillsborough Pizzeria, a new venture by restaurant owners Joel and Sarah Bohlin, has opened its doors at 600 West King Street — right next door to The Village Diner, which the Bohlins also own. The move expands the pizza operations started for The Village Diner during the COVID-19 pandemic and will be serving up pizzas, wings, and bar food in the evenings.
“We’re excited to bring these two experiences to our corner of Hillsborough,” said Joel Bohlin in a release about the opening. “Village Diner has been part of the community for nearly 50 years and the opening of West Hillsborough Pizzeria gives us the opportunity to serve simple but elevated food and drink all day. Stop by for breakfast then come back for a beer and pizza that evening. We’ll have plenty of TVs with the big game on for sports fans, too.”
The Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce is holding a public ribbon-cutting ceremony for West Hillsborough Pizzeria on Wednesday at 2 p.m. to celebrate the official opening. The new restaurant will also have specials running on Saturday, April 27 to highlight its menu’s variety — including things like half-price chicken wings and $1 off all draft beers.

With the opening of West Hillsborough Pizzeria and its focus on pizzas, The Village Diner will revert back to a traditional breakfast and lunch menu. The Bohlins purchased the diner in 2017 and introduced pizzas as an easier to-go menu option during the pandemic when dine-in service was either not allowed or slow to return. Now, the pizza and food served in the evenings will break out into its own space within the same building as the diner — just not in the same dining area.
West Hillsborough Pizzeria will be open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Meanwhile, The Village Diner will adjust its hours and announce new times at a later date.
