Kipos Greek Taverna in Chapel Hill is on the move.
The restaurant, which is owned by the Giorgios Hospitality & Lifestyle Group, has removed its signs and cleaned out the interior of its location at 431 West Franklin Street. Ownership later said in a social media post the Greek eatery will relocate.
The first public indication of a temporary closure was made by the restaurant in an April 17 Facebook post.
Giorgios Bakatsias, who directs the Giorgios Hospitality & Lifestyle Group, later confirmed the restaurant will be relocating. He indicated the new home for Kipos will be shared soon.
Giorgios Hospitality & Lifestyle Group also owns the Chapel Hill-based restaurants City Kitchen American Brasserie, Bin 54 Steak & Cellar and Village Burgers.
Kipos is the second restaurant to announce its closure or relocation from Franklin Street amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Lotsa Stone Fired Pizza announced its permanent closure at its 100 West Franklin Street location in April.
