The UNC Department of Public Safety is investigating a report of an attempted robbery on campus, according to an Alert Carolina message.

The alert went out late Thursday night saying a food delivery driver was approached by a suspect near Avery Residence Hall. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The message says the incident happened shortly before 11 o’clock Thursday night.

Police say no weapon was seen during the encounter.

The suspect was described as a black male, 18 – 25 years old, around 6’ to 6’2” tall, with short hair and a goatee, wearing a gray sweatshirt and sweatpants.

UNC Police are asking anyone with information to call the UNC Police Department at 911 or contact the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at (919) 942-7515.
