Meantime Coffee Company, a non-profit, student-run café, will open a second location at the Innovate Carolina Junction building on Friday, Nov. 8. The Innovate Carolina Junction building is located at 136 East Rosemary Street in Chapel Hill. Meantime’s main branch is located inside the Campus Y building on the UNC campus.

“The café will offer the same sustainable, locally sourced products as the flagship Campus Y location,” read a release from the company, “partnering with Carrboro Coffee Roasters and other small businesses to provide ethical and affordable drink options to the wider Chapel Hill community.”

Meantime was founded in 2016 by three undergraduates at UNC. The café donates $50,000 annually to the Carolina community.

“I’m continually impressed by the Meantime team and how it has grown since my time in the organization,” said Keegan McBride, one of the cafe’s co-founders. “What’s especially impactful is how through the student-led evolution of the organization, our values have held true – providing professional development opportunities on campus, giving back to students, supporting local businesses, and more.”

The Junction, championed as an “innovation hub” by UNC leaders, is a co-working and networking space for businesses of all sizes — but, particularly, start-ups stemming from the nearby campus or companies looking to harness the university’s connections. Having first opened a year ago, the space offers a mix of work areas, programming, and amenities like Meantime to both visitors and tenants.

The new Meantime location will hold an official grand opening on Nov. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is open to the public and will feature free products, giveaways and live entertainment. Standard operations will begin on Monday, Nov. 11. Hours are listed as 7:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday.
