The U.S. Army Special Operations Parachute Demonstration Team, the Black Daggers, will jump into Kenan Memorial Stadium on Friday as a salute to the employees of the UNC Medical Center.
A small group of employees representing different units from the Medical Center will be inside the stadium to view the event. Units represented included the Emergency Department, Medical Intensive Care Unit, 6 Bedtower, and Environmental Services. A number of other units will be represented by the Medical Center’s Veterans Employee Resource Group.
The jump will take place at noon on Friday. Due to health guidelines on public gatherings, the public will not be permitted inside the stadium.
“The U.S. Army Special Operations Command Parachute Demonstration Team — the Black Daggers — is comprised entirely of volunteers from throughout the Army special operations community,” said a release. “They have diverse backgrounds and possess various military specialties. The team represents the professionalism and dedication of Special Operations Forces and performs aerial demonstrations in support of U.S. Army Special Operations Command community outreach and recruiting efforts. The team is based at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville.”
UNC Medical Center and healthcare corporations across the North Carolina have seen various flyovers and tributes to honor the healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
