A flyover performed by The Flying For The Flag Bandit Flight Team on Thursday honored frontline healthcare workers across North Carolina during the coronavirus outbreak.

Beginning at WRAL studios, the Bandit Flight Team flew around Raleigh before heading west to Durham and Chapel Hill.

The planes flew over WakeMed Raleigh, Duke Hospitals in Raleigh, UNC Rex, WakeMed Cary, Duke University Hospital, UNC Medical Center and Duke Regional Hospital. Over each healthcare center, the planes exhumed smoke in tribute to the workers.

In Chapel Hill, healthcare workers gathered outside UNC Medical Center to watch the flyover. The above image was captured by UNC Health CST Eileen Brito as the planes passed above the American flag outside the medical center.

The celebratory flights are part of North Carolina’s Frontline Flyover series, which is dedicated to frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic and is part of National Hospital Week.

The Bandit Flight Team will do additional flyovers in Moore County (May 16), Greensboro and Winston-Salem (May 19) and Charlotte (May 21).
