UNC authorities are investigating a series of burglaries that happened to on-campus apartments in the recent weeks and have identified a suspect.
The UNC Police Department sent a message to the campus community on Monday afternoon, informing residents about a string of break-ins to the Rams Village 2 and Rams Village 5 residence halls. The department said it has identified Marques Mann as a suspect and has issued three felony arrests warrants on breaking and entering charges against Mann. Police released a photo of the suspect in hopes of someone within the community spotting him and reporting him to UNC Police.

According to the Alert Carolina message, Mann is not affiliated with UNC.
UNC Police encourages anyone who sees Mann on campus to not approach him and instead contact the department immediately by calling 911. In its message, the department also encouraged campus residents to always lock their doors no matter how far away or long they leave the room. Other safety tips included purchasing a small personal safe or foot locker to store most valuable items and noting the condition of their residence before leaving to notice any changes upon their return.
UNC campus is largely running on reduced operations with about 900 students still living on campus. The university made the decision on March 17 following its decision to exclusively hold online instruction for the rest of the spring semester amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. UNC officials made the decision following the announcement of an extended spring break. Students who remain on campus have been granted permission following the completion of a ‘special circumstances’ waiver.
