Sporting News released its annual All-American teams on Monday afternoon, with UNC junior forward Luke Maye earning a Third Team selection.

The former walk-on from Huntersville–who was named the ACC’s Most Improved Player on Sunday–is averaging 17.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Tar Heels so far this season.

After averaging just 5.5 points per game as a sophomore, Maye’s 12.2 point per game increase is the largest by any Tar Heel ever from year-to-year.

At 6-foot-8 with the ability to play both inside and outside, he has played a large role in UNC’s offense–shifting the team to a more perimeter-oriented attack.

Maye has scored at least 30 points on three separate occasions this year and is the team’s leading rebounder.

He is joined on the Sporting News Third Team All-America by: Keenan Evans (guard, Texas Tech), Carsen Edwards (guard, Purdue), Mikal Bridges (forward, Villanova) and Aaron Holiday (guard, UCLA).
