As the men’s college basketball awards begin to pour in ahead of the postseason, UNC junior wing Justin Jackson continues to have his name called.

Not long after becoming the 14th Tar Heel to win ACC Player of the Year, Jackson was named a First Team All-American by the Sporting News on Monday.

Emerging as UNC’s go-to scoring option early in the season, the native of Tomball, Texas displayed an inside-outside versatility matched by few players across the country.

He averaged 18.3 points per game during the regular season, leading the Tar Heels to a 26-6 record with a 14-4 conference mark good enough to win the school’s 31st ACC regular season championship.

By virtue of some of the awards he’s received this season, Jackson will likely have his No. 44 honored in the Smith Center rafters once his career in Chapel Hill is complete.

Kansas senior guard Frank Mason III was the only unanimous selection to Sporting News’ All-American First Team, with UCLA point guard Lonzo Ball, Villanova wing Josh Hart and Purdue big man Caleb Swanigan filling out the rest of the squad.
