Coach Fedora Hoping ‘Lights to Come On’ at Zero Dark Thursday
CHAPEL HILL– It’s game week. And it’s a short one at that. Zero Dark Thursday Tar Heel Downtown and ESPN will all be descending on Chapel Hill in a few days.
And with all the hype of a prime-time ACC showdown against Miami right around the corner, Head Coach Larry Fedora says the belief is still there in his players.
“These guys are still working hard. They’re still working hard, and they’re fighting. They believe in what we’re doing. And if we keep working hard, we’re going to make some good things happen. Eventually enough lights are going to come on in some heads,” Coach Fedora says.
Coach Fedora says he admits Carolina’s schedule, with bye weeks and short weeks abound, has kept the Tar Heels a bit off balance all season.
“We haven’t had a normal week yet. So it’s been hard to get into a routine with the guys,” Coach Fedora says.
The struggles of this Carolina squad have been well documented. Now sitting at 1-4, Coach Fedora says he is looking forward to seeing what his team is made of coming down the stretch.
“I think you find a lot out about individuals. I think you find out a lot about what your team is and the identity,” Coach Fedora says.
Tar Heel fans won’t have to wait much longer to discover a little more about that “identity.” You know the Tar Heels have everything to play for at home and nothing to lose against a supremely talented Hurricanes team laden with NFL Sunday players.
One of the central questions for Thursday will no doubt be how well the ragged Carolina defense contains the speedy Miami athletes streaking down the sidelines. And Coach Fedora says he’s confident the unit is just a few plays away from finding their stride.
“Everybody can see it. It’s just a couple of things, a couple of breakdowns. And if it’s not for those breakdowns, which that’s been a consistent thing for us. If we get those cut out, we can play solid defense,” Coach Fedora says.
And with the eyes of the country fixed on Kenan Stadium, Thursday would be a mighty good time for that, Coach.Did you see something wrong in this story, or something missing? Let us know
