Sophomore first baseman Michael Busch hit two home runs and drove in a whopping five RBIs Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium, leading the UNC baseball team to a 16-8 victory over the No. 7 Florida State Seminoles in the first game of the day’s doubleheader.

It also marked the season-high fifth win in a row for the Tar Heels (14-8), who have exploded for a combined 61 runs during the streak.

UNC opened the game by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning against Florida State starter Cole Sands, but the Seminoles responded just two innings later with five runs of their own.

The teams then traded runs back and forth–including Busch’s first home run of the day, a two-run shot in the fifth inning–until the Tar Heels blew the game open with seven runs in the home half of the seventh frame.

Following an RBI single by Cody Roberts, Busch came to the plate in the seventh and promptly sent an 0-1 pitch over the wall in center field–becoming the first Tar Heel to hit two home runs in a game since Tom Zengel did it against Maryland on March 14, 2014.

Dylan Enwiller would go on to hit a two-run homer later on in the inning, joining Busch, Kyle Datres and Brandon Riley as Tar Heels with at least two RBIs in the game.

On the mound, senior Brett Daniels was credited with the win after tossing four innings in relief of starter Tyler Baum.
