A Durham Police officer was shot at during a foot chase over the weekend, according to police.

Authorities say at approximately 11:35 on Saturday night, the suspicious person was “overheard discussing criminal activity” on Sima Avenue, near Building 6 in the McDougald Terrace public housing complex. When the officers questioned the individual, police say the suspect ran and fired shots toward one of the officers.

Police say the officer returned fire.

No injuries were reported and no suspects are in custody, according to a release.

The incident is being investigated by the Durham Police Department’s Professional Standards Division and Criminal Investigations Division, according to the department, which is standard procedure in these circumstances.
