A puppy was stolen from the Animal Protection Society of Durham’s animal shelter on Saturday and officials are asking for assistance tracking down the dog.

Officials say Janet, a Yorkie-Chihuahua mix, was taken in the mid-afternoon on Saturday, January 21.

It was discovered that the puppy was missing on Monday and a police report was filed, according to a release.

The dog has a registered microchip with Home Again and a missing pet report has been filed and distributed to all shelters, rescues and veterinary clinics withing a 25-mile radius.

Officials describe the puppy as an 8-10 week old, spayed female, weighing just over three pounds.
