Friday, October 21, all day

The Halloween festivities continue with Built Story this weekend. You can take several self-guided tours by downloading their app everyday until Halloween. The tours offered include Raleigh’s most terrifying ghosts, spirits, and haunts and Halloween homes in South Duham. For more information, click here

Friday, October 21 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

This Friday, Lanza’s Cafe will be hosting an open mic night. No sign ups are needed and the selection is random. Come show off your talents while enjoying the delicious refreshments Lanza’s has to offer. Click here to learn more.

The Rubenstein Arts Center at Duke University will be hosting a free screening of the award-winning documentary Far East Deep South. The director, Larissa Lam will be there to answer questions on the documentary, which discusses the history of Chinese immigrants and the segregated south. The Alamance Artisans Extravaganza returns after a two year hiatus! 21 artists will be on hand to showcase and sell their unique work, which will include pottery, jewelry, and more. Saturday, October 22 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Enjoy some local music this weekend at Sleepy Fest, hosted by Sleepy Cat Records. There will be dozens of local artists performing and a makers mart where you can shop homemade goods by local artisans and small businesses. Click here for more information on Sleepy Fest!

Saturday, October 22 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Festifall continues for its third and final week. 20-30 artists will be on hand showcasing their work and gourmet hand food and drinks will be available. Saturday, October 22 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Goldfish Swim School will be hosting a trick or treat event. Several businesses have been invited to decorate change huts and tables so your kids can walk around Goldfish and show off their costumes while getting candy and treats. Popcorn, cotton candy, and a balloon twister will be available. The event is free and the first 500 kids will get a trick or treat bag with the Goldfish mascot on it. Ever wanted a hand-painted picture of your pet? Now’s your chance! Paws4ever has organized Paint Your Pet! Paint it Forward at Wine and Design Chapel Hill. Get your tickets and send in a picture of your pet and they will have it transferred onto a canvas ready for you to paint. An artist will be on hand to help you make a masterpiece. The celebrations continue for the NAACP of Chapel Hill-Carrboro’s 75th anniversary. The Diamond Year Gala will be hosted at the Sheraton Hotel in Chapel Hill. Grow To Life will be hosting a Building Community Block Party at Winnmore Village Green. The party will feature a raffle, local and vegan food, music, art, and more. Celebrate fall at NC Botanical Garden with some hands-on nature activities. Craft a flower crown and magic wand, meet carnivorous plants, meet live animals and more. Enjoy the outdoors and more live music at the second annual Blaze Orange event! Live bands, craft brews, and food trucks will be on hand. The event is free, but a $25 donation is encouraged and will go toward design, building, and maintaining the Mountain-to-Sea trail. For more information, click here.

Learn more about America’s first public university and the old village with this Heart of the Hill walking tour. You’lll walk up one side of Franklin Street and down the other as you hear stories from people that lived along the street. To register for the walking tour, click here.
