Tom Brady has offered up another reason to root against him.

When the Tampa Bay Bucs allowed the Rams to drive for the winning score last season, and deny Brady yet another Super Bowl appearance, he was mad enough to not want to see his defensive teammates ever again. So he announced his retirement at the ripe old age of 44.

He used time with his family as the main reason he was stepping away from a game he still played at the highest level. But after not being an NFL quaterback for two months, his anger turned to regret and he unretired, thus upsetting friends of his supermodel wife Giselle, who has been more of a full-time mother for the last 15 years.

Now Brady truly looks like he should retire, making stupid statements like comparing his job to deployment in the military to defend his country. He was beloved in New England for his 20 years of dominance there, and those fans have moved on to two young QBs fighting over his old position while the Bucs are 3-3.

If they recover and make another run toward the Super Bowl, which is entirely possible, all will be forgotten on the west coast of Florida. But he also has the chance of being remembered for going out like, say, Brett Favre who played too long and now gets little sympathy for his off-the-field problems.

Brady and Giselle are apparently living apart and both have reportedly hired divorce lawyers to figure out how they would divide their estimated combined net worth of $500 million. Meanwhile, he took 11 days off from preseason camp and lately missed a practice or meeting after attending the celebrity wedding of 81-year-old Patriots owner Bob Kraft to his 47-year-old bride.

If Tom gets through this season and truly retires, he may be able to save his marriage. But not his golden boy reputation as the fiery leader who was a team player and mostly hated because he won so much. Now his private life has become too public, and people are getting a little sick of it.

How did TB12 go from a squeaky-clean image to this mess of a life that once looked perfect? He has a trainer who turned his diet from bad carbs to avocado ice cream and his workout regimen worthy of his own book called the TB 12 Method, whose sales have slowed down even in New England. The best-seller currently ranks No. 8,536 on Amazon.

Brady’s Camelot life now needs to be his greatest fourth-quarter comeback.
