The Drowsy Chaperone will tell you a story of mistaken identity and star-crossed lovers in the swinging time of the 1920’s while keeping you laughing. Bring the kids out to Kidzu Children’s Museum to learn about nocturnal nature. Kids will learn more about nocturnal animals, participate in activities, and do some crafts all while viewing live animals brought by the NC Herpetological Society. Relive your high school days with the Back To The Future Adult prom at Cat’s Cradle Back Room. Enjoy appetizers from Mel’s Catering then bust a move on the dance floor to music from 1955-1985. There will be a dance off competition and a photo booth. All proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Durham and Orange Counties. Get your ticket here.

Bring your dog to Paws4Ever and allow them to make some mess-free art through A Dog’s Canvas. Your dog will get the opportunity to paint a masterpiece and play with paint (through plastic) and you’ll get an adorable keep-sake made by your best friend. 10% of the proceeds will go to Paws4Ever. After you’ve stepped back in time with the Back To The Future Prom, your kids can too on Saturday. The Orange County Historical has re-opened their Kid Space and re-imagined it to resemble life in Hillsborough in 1823. Kids will hear stories, do some crafts, and enjoy some ice cream. Come out to Binkley Baptist Church this Saturday and stand with members of our community in remembrance of the victims of police brutality. Come out to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park this weekend for the annual Summer Block Party to celebrate the National Summer of Learning with Book Harvest. The event is family friendly and will include activities and entertainment for all ages, and of course, an abundance of books suitable for young kids to high schoolers. Chelsea Classics is back again this summer. This weekend, you can catch two films from Jean-Luc Godard. On Saturday, catch his film Contempt, following a director torn between the wants of a proud European director and an arrogant American producer while he attempts to doctor a script. Come out and view some art in the downtowns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Hillsborough with the Uproar Festival of Public Arts. High-impact, outdoor art pieces will be on display everyday until August 12th. The public will be able to vote on their favorite piece. For more information, click here.
