Chapel Hill is getting a new locally-backed deli that’ll be pulling double-duty as a breakfast spot, complete with fresh bagels and pastries, in the form of Deli Edison – which opens for business on Monday, December 9.

North Carolina locals and far-flung diners alike may recognize the Edison name from the “Lady Edison” line of Southern charcuterie – including the award-winning Lady Edison Extra Fancy Country Ham – produced with a commitment to “traditional, sustainable farming practices and a food system which values the whole animal.” Deli Edison will be serving up Lady Edison meats by the pound, along with salads, sandwiches, seasonal offerings and a full selection of fresh, unique breakfast options.

Partners Dan Obusan, Sam Suchoff and Pete Wagner will open Deli Edison on Monday, December 9 – starting the week off with fresh bagels and locally-roasted Carrboro Coffee.

“When I opened The Pig in North Chapel Hill in 2010, I hoped this area would become a food destination,” said Sam Suchoff in a press release. “Now that Deli Edison is open, you can get fresh-baked bagels with a schmear, humanely raised whole-hog barbecue, and great cocktails, all in this quiet strip mall. I’m super excited about our central courtyard, where you can meet up with friends and family and share food and drinks from all three places.”

Special features at Deli Edison will include options such as holiday catering specials and preorder pies – along with the unique option of a changing menu of healthy takeout meals.

Located at 630 Weaver Dairy Road in Chapel Hill, Deli Edison is across the courtyard from The Pig and PiggyBack. They will be open from 7 am – 2 pm daily, with expanded hours to follow during the holiday season.
