After receiving her MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Dr. Beth Rosenberg completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Cardiology at UNC. She then worked as a noninvasive cardiologist in Chapel Hill for 20 years.

After retiring from that practice, she decided to join Piedmont Health Senior Care as a primary care doctor and to provide cardiology services to the PHS sites in Burlington and in Pittsboro.

She had been experiencing “PACE envy” for many years and remains thrilled to be able to share her skills with the staff and participants at Piedmont Health Senior Care.

Dr. Rosenberg is also an Exercise Physiologist, having earned a doctorate in this field prior to deciding to go into medicine. She enjoys integrating those skills with her medical skills in the PACE setting.

Dr. Rosenberg knew about Piedmont Health Services before PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) existed and says PACE is a wonderful addition to the senior care services offered by PHS.

She calls the program “phenomenal”. . . and the best model for providing care for older people who are insured by Medicare, Medicaid, which means they’re dual eligible and they don’t have access to most resources.

As a cardiologist and exercise physiologist, she provides both primary care and physical training to participants at PACE, both in recovery from illness and to lose weight, which often helps reduce the amount of medication they are taking.

Dr. Rosenberg says main objective of PACE is to keep people out of emergency rooms and nursing homes.

We say, “What do you really want out of life? Do you want to live for a long time or do you want to be as active as possible for a long time? Where do you want just be comfortable? And I really respect the fact that this program has that emphasis and it works really well.”
