Album/EP: John Prine” self-titled album by John Prine (1971)

Craft: CD Mosaics

Album/EP: The world sadly lost one of its greatest songwriters this week, Grammy-winner John Prine. His often comical style of country/folk music will go down in history as containing some of the most iconic lyrics from American music. Even if country music isn’t your typical jam, you will find yourself listening to his lyrics as though you were reading a book, content on reaching the end of the story. Give yourself a boost of spirit with Prine’s self-titled 1971 album!

CD Mosaics: Have a bunch of old CDs lying around? Cut them up into pointy little shapes and puzzle them together on all kinds of objects to create a holographic piece of art. Super glue those bad boys onto tabletops, coasters, and more!

Movie: “Dracula” on Netflix

Music: Vulfpeck

Movie: It’s more like three movies, and I’m hesitant to recommend it at all, but the Netflix re-spin of “Dracula” brought to you by “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock” dynamic duo Moffat & Gatiss is worth your time. Or, at least, I think it is. It takes off strong, soars into episode two, and then the typical Moffat Touch seems to fail to find footing when it comes to sticking the landing. I had fun, and I’m a sucker for fresh takes on Dracula. Maybe you’ll like it, too.

Music: There’s new Vulfpeck out – and while the band hasn’t exactly been the same since a key member departed, there’s still a great deal of fun to be had in Vulfpeck music. My specific recommendations are some of the group’s slightly older material, specifically “The Beautiful Game” and “Thrill of the Arts.” If you really wanna be somebody, hit up Cory Wong’s excellent solo album “Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul”
