The Yardarm is a four-piece band comprised of Jason Bales, JJ Westfield, Palmer Smith and John Cowan. “Tipping Sea” is their first full-length album, but they’ve been together for well over half a decade; Bales and Westfield split songwriting and singing duties, giving the band an eclectic sound with a wide variety of influences ranging from country to roots/Americana to indie rock.
Follow The Yardarm on Instagram.

They’re celebrating the album’s release on Thursday, June 13, with a show at Cat’s Cradle Back Room; Charles Latham & the Borrowed Band and Cosmic Country All-Stars will open. (Latham and The Yardarm have both recently signed on to the new local label All Y’all Records.)
Get tickets to the 8 p.m. show at CatsCradle.com.

The Yardarm stopped by Live & Local this week to discuss the album and the show and play three songs: “Some Day,” “Richmond 1925,” and “Monument.” Listen:
