With their debut album due out this month, Danlee “Moon Dog” Gildersleeve and Torin “Dr. Funkenstein” Alston of JULIA joined Aaron Keck on Live & Local.
JULIA is a four-piece funk band that also features Sean Meehan and Todd Davis. They’ve been established in the Triangle music scene for several years, but February 19 marks the release of their first album: “When Dirt Was Clean and Dinosaurs Roamed the Earth.”
The band will be at Cats Cradle Back Room that evening, playing an album release show alongside Mellow Swells and Shrubb. (If you miss them at the Cradle, they also have a show in March at Raleigh’s Lincoln Theatre – and a monthly residency this year at Raleigh’s Gizmo Brew Works.)
JULIA played two tracks off the new album, “What the World Deserves” and “Second Position,” and then played “Nothing” live in 97.9 The Hill studios. Listen:
