After holding no school — in-person or remote — on Monday due to hazardous driving conditions, the Orange County Schools district is moving to a two-hour delay for Tuesday.
Chatham County Schools and Durham Public Schools are also operating on a two-hour delay.
All three districts sent out alerts Monday night, saying the shift in operations is because of the below-freezing temperatures and likelihood for icy road conditions Tuesday morning.
While precipitation across the region largely finished by early evening, northern Orange County was among the areas to see freezing rain Monday morning due to the chilly temperatures. The district announced shortly before 6 a.m. that it would be an optional teacher workday with no remote learning for any of its students.
The Orange County Schools Board of Education meeting scheduled for Monday was to be conducted virtually, while any state athletic playoff games scheduled for the district’s teams also were permitted to continue.
More information regarding two-hour delay policies and inclement weather plans can be found by going to the Orange County Schools district website.
