Scott Stankavage is Wednesday’s Hometown Hero.

Scott was a quarterback at Carolina back in the early 80’s.  He played for three different teams in the NFL.

About 3 years ago, Scott was diagnosed with leukemia.  Since then, he’s been fighting hard and not only for himself.  He’s raising money to help fight the disease in every way he can.

St Thomas More

The St. Thomas More Basketball Team with Scott Stankavage and John Aluise

A fundraising campaign is underway on behalf of Scott Stankavage.  John Aluise is leading the effort.

From the fundraising page:

“Scott’s untimely diagnosis of Leukemia occurred while he was the father of three children under the age of 4. Despite this obvious hardship, Scott has been unwavering in his role of father, not only to his three youngest children but also to his three adult children. Despite the exhausting treatment that Scott had to undergo early in his treatment protocols, he continued to attend some of our basketball practices imparting his coaching expertise to our young players at St. Thomas More.”
