This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Justin Richardson from the Lincoln Community Health Center in Durham.

Richardson is the nurse manager of the pediatric clinic at the health center, which has been around since 1971 providing healthcare to residents in Durham who would otherwise have trouble accessing it.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Richardson’s role is essential to making the health center function.

“He supervises the staff, he keeps the flow going, but he goes well beyond that,” said Dr. Betty Maston, a pediatrician at Lincoln Community Health Center.

Dr. Maston said Richardson does his job with empathy, kindness and character.

“His default mode is, ‘What can I do to help?’ Most of all, he just does it all with kindness and people sense it immediately. Patients are drawn to them, staff, everyone.”
