This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Acura Southpoint, is John Williams, the president of the Phoenix Academy in Chapel Hill.
Williams was recognized as Principal of the Year in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School System in 2017 and was also recently honored with the Duke Energy Citizenship and Service Award.
“Several people have approached me and they said, ‘John, you’re a servant-leader’ and I told them I don’t agree with that. I’m a servant, it just so happens to be in a leadership position.
“No matter where you are, no matter what you’re doing, no matter what your role is, you can always be a servant.”
