Holiday Highlight Safety Tip #3
Traveling can be one of the most stressful parts of the holiday season, especially with the extra precautions that are necessary to travel this year. Triangle Electrical Services is here for this Holiday Highlight with a few tips to keep your home safe!
If you’re spending the holidays away from home, light timers may be a good investment. Some homeowners leave a few lights on when they go on vacation, but unfortunately this wastes energy and doesn’t actually deter intruders. Installing light timers in your home is more effective way to prevent break-ins, and it’s easier on your electric bill. Staying home for the holidays? Light timers are still a good choice for your Christmas tree or other potentially flammable decorations. No more worrying about falling asleep on the couch and leaving the lights on all night!

Holiday Highlights Recipe #3: Honey Roasted Parsnips and Brussels Sprouts
It’s root vegetable season! Roasted veggies are a classic, simple side dish, but parsnips are often overlooked. Here I’ve brought together bright ivory parsnips with green and purple brussels sprouts for a colorful combo to dress up your holiday table!
Holiday Cocktail Recipes from Carrie Brogren
“Cranberry Margarita”
- 2 Ounces Fresh Cranberry Juice
- 1 Ounce fresh squeezed Lime Juice
- 1.5 Ounces Silver Tequila
- .05 Ounce Cointreau
- .25 ounce Agave Syrup
- Fresh Cranberries, lime, and Lime Salt (for garnish)
Add a festive twist to a classic margarita. If you’d like, you can use store bought Cranberry juice, but I prefer to make my own because you can customize the sweetness. In addition, I like to make my own Lime Salt for the salt rim because it adds a little flavor, aroma, and color to your cocktail!
For the homemade Cranberry Juice you will need:
- 4 Cups of Fresh Cranberries
- 4 Cups of water
- ½-1 Cup of your choice of sweetener (I prefer about ½ cup of white sugar).
Add cranberries and water to a large pot and bring to a boil. Allow berries to soften and pop (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and drain through a large mesh strainer into a bowl, smashing the berries with a wooden spoon in an effort to release the juice. Let cool , transfer to a glass jar, and store in the refrigerator.
For the Lime Salt:
- ½ Cup Sea Salt
- 1 Tablespoon finely grated Lime Zest
Combine salt and lime zest and spread evenly onto a baking pan. Bake at about 200 degrees for about 30 minutes. Cool completely and store in an airtight container at room temperature.
For the cocktail:
Wet the rim of your cocktail glass and rim it with Lime Salt.
Add a handful of ice and all ingredients to a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously and pour into a glass. I garnished with a couple of fresh cranberries and a slice of dehydrated lime.
Finishing Touches: Gift Wrapping
The holiday season is upon us, and there are few things that I enjoy more than the gift of giving! Amid the chaos of finding the perfect present, the gesture of thoughtful wrapping makes the experience of receiving even more bountiful. I’ve rounded up a few of the easiest ways to make your presents the most delightful treasures for the eye!
