It’s that time of year. December days seem shorter as dark falls earlier. Yet, the days actually feel longer as those To-Do Lists expand. Holiday decorating and tree trimming, gift buying and giving, party planning and hopping….and the list goes on. And what to wear through it all?!
Whether it’s time to get out and shop or just check the recesses of your closet for what to wear (and what to purge!), here are a few suggestions to make your packed schedule less frightful and more delightful.
Traveling
Pull out that favorite toasty coat you love or invest in a new one. So many outerwear options exist from faux fur to plaid to leather moto jacket to down parka, just to name a few. And find some luggage that stands out at baggage claim. (Yes, my luggage all has polka dots!) It might be time for a spinner suitcase that glides down the airport concourse with ease and style.

Socializing
A Little Black Dress aka LBD goes from an office party to after hours. Add sparkle or color in jewels or a scarf to brighten up your look and the room. Always accessorize accordingly.
Shopping
Brave the mall, the outlets or the strip malls in a comfy casual cashmere sweater and easy booties.

Lounging
Whether you’re snowed in or binge watching, make it warm, cozy and cute. FYI, sleepwear, robes, and slippers all make great gifts. Hint Hint.

Speaking of gifts. My advice? Do the heavy gifting early for more time to relax and truly enjoy your holidays. Not your year for early gifting? Here’s a New Year’s resolution. I keep a year-round checklist with gift ideas for each family member on my Smartphone. There’s likely an app just for that, but I use ColorNote which is the Smartphone version of a Post-It note. Lists like this help me get ahead of the holiday gift giving game and free up my fun time.
