The Supremes have untied our election day by a tie vote.  How about the Supremes?

They untied as follows:

  • No more required IDs
  • No more elimination of same-day registration
  • Allowed another week of early voting

They tied, agreeing with the Fourth District Court.  a few days ago, there were many of us Moral Movement activists within the hearing range of WCHL at Pullen Memorial Baptist Church in Raleigh joining with Rev. Barber and inspiration and hope that this action by the Supremes might happen and it did.

Hallelujah!

A bravo to Allison Riggs, an attorney for the Southern Coalition for Social Justice who led the action at the district court.  Applause also to Bob Hall of Democracy North Carolina with their years of local leadership and strong efforts to confront the continuing efforts to discriminate, restrict, and harass African Americans and Latinos as they face difficulties expressing their right to vote.

Rev. Barber and his supporters have a sign to live by.  “It’s our time, it’s our vote, it’s our Selma.”

Gather around y’all and lets remember one basic right for reason.  Ties can go either way for our grandchildren and our own future.
