Emma Parry is this week’s Hometown Hero.
Emma is 14 years old. President Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign was the beginning of her interest in politics. She started calling voters at age 10 as a volunteer for Obama’s reelection bid. She also knocked on doors and doing voter registration drives. She was able to meet First Lady Michelle Obama, also.
In the beginning, Emma was given a script when making calls. But, now she is a pro.

She also ran student government campaigns at Phillips Middle School, worked with Sen. Kay Hagan’s campaign, and served as an honorary page in the North Carolina General Assembly for Tricia Cotham.
Now, during the 2016 election cycle, she is as active as ever. Emma has been working with the Orange County Democratic Party doing voter registration and calling volunteers. She is also starting high school at East Chapel Hill High.
She plans to stay active in politics and hopes meet Hillary Clinton one day, especially if she becomes the first female president of the United States.
