The Chapel Hill Police Department is participating in No-Shave November, an international fundraising campaign that aims to raise awareness for cancer research, prevention and education.

During the month of November, both men and women are encouraged to give up shaving and grooming and donate the money they would use toward hair-maintenance to support cancer prevention. The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by growing your hair; something that cancer patients often lose.

The police department is participating in the campaign by putting down their razors and donating their monthly hair-care expenses towards the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Chapel Hill Police have also set up a GoFundMe page and will be raising money for the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer Support Program that offers specialized care and support for adolescents and young adults aged 13-30 facing a cancer diagnosis.

Chapel Hill Police also add that getting hairy isn’t necessary and all individuals are encouraged to donate to their GoFundMe page.
