Carolina Brewery‘s “Copperline Amber Ale” brought home the brewery’s fourth national medal from the Great American Beer Festival, held in Colorado, as the beer won silver in the “Ordinary and Special Bitter” category.

Robert Poitras, owner and founder of Carolina Brewery.
The silver medal this year follows a gold medal for Carolina Brewery’s “Flagship IPA” in 2006, and bronze medals awarded for its “Sky Blue Golden Ale” and “Genuine Oatmeal Porter” in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Carolina Brewery has been in business since 1995, with its first brewpub opening in Chapel Hill, soon followed by another location in Pittsboro. The brewery has been awarded more than 100 medals and recognitions for the quality of its beer.
Brewmaster Nate Williams has been working out of the Pittsboro location of Carolina Brewery since its opening in 2007, and is celebrating his 11th year as Carolina Brewery’s brewmaster this year. Williams will be personally hosting brewery tours during an open house and oyster roast event on Saturday, November 17, as part of the celebration surrounding yet another Great American Beer Festival win.
The celebratory open house and oyster roast will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m, and will feature live bluegrass music in addition to brewery tours and tastings. Additional, Carolina Brewery’s newly-acquired canning line will be in action, canning beers for distribution.

Despite the cold weather, Carolina Brewery was packed!
