Tuesday, October 21, Carolina Public Humanities and Carolina K-12 are hosting a free documentary screening at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. The film is “American Coup: Wilmington 1898,” about the violent racial coup that ultimately overthrew a democratically-elected government and helped establish a white-supremacist regime in North Carolina that ruled for decades.

The film starts at 5:30 p.m. with a panel discussion afterward featuring Durham mayor Leo Williams and UNC historian Antwain Hunter.
